I stayed in Kaps Place in 12/10, but I just now got into writing reviews for hotels. My trip to Costa Rica was a personal journey of sorts. I was having some personal issues at home in the US, and I wanted to run away for Christmas. I have dreamed of visiting Central America on my own, and just wandering and exploring. However I was petrified as I don't speak much Spanish and had heard all of the scary stories about tourists being robbed. I bought a Lonely Planet guidebook for CR and found that Kaps Place was one of the recommended hotels. I looked at the website many times and began to feel very comfortable with going to Costa Rica on my own. Kaps Place looked like a real home away from home, the staff looked like they would help me with anything that I needed. I especially appreciated the Taxi warning on the page. I felt that with this honest tip, I would be better armed to take care of myself if anyone tried to fool me on the streets. I have a lot of respect for Karla adding that to this page. I also appreciated the "Are we for you" page on the website. It all made me feel very comfortable.

Fast forward to my visit...Kaps Place was everything that I had hoped for and more. My room was absolutely adorable and very clean, as was the entire hotel. Everyday I marveled at what a quaint, and adorable establishment it was. I loved the courtyard as well as all of the children's toys strewn about. The staff was incredibly helpful. One night Karla's son was playing ball by himself in the hallway. I went out to say hello to him and he was extremely concerned that the noise from the ball was disturbing me. He was a very nice young man. The hotel also provided me with a cell phone which gave me peace of mind.

I stayed there for 5 nights and explored the streets and nearby towns. I shopped, ate in restaurants, wandered in the parks, and took photos. It was a wonderful trip. I truly enjoyed having Kaps Place as my home base, and felt extremely safe there. The security pre...

Kaps was an absolute delight for us. I am a single mother traveling with two boys and this is the most welcoming, comfortable place for us all! It is clean, affordable, safe and comfortable. I highly recommend it to ALL travelers - but especially those with children.

We really enjoyed Kaps Place! The host and hostess were generous and kind. They were very flexible, accommodating, and helpful when we had to alter our travel plans at the last minute. Kaps made our stay in San Jose easy and stress free. The facilities were quite nice as well -- clean, efficient, and welcoming. Would definitely stay there again!

I was a guest at Kaps in October, 2011. I found the location excellent and the facility warm and inviting. It had all the comforts of home (kitchen, internet, hot water)and a very helpful staff. I would def stay there again.

I consider Kaps place the best first entry point to Costa Rican Culture and highly recommend it to you.

I had à very pleasant stay. The Guesthouse is decorated very nicely and has a lot of facilities. And the people are very helpfull and welcoming. They even threw their guests a newyearseve party, with lost of free snacks and drinks. One of the nicest places I have ever stayed. And, as a frequent traveller I have stayed in at least 500 over the last 15 years.

I have been staying at KAPS Place for 2 months. I recommend it to anyone who wants a clean, well run, fun hostel. The kitchen and bathrooms are very clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. The internet in my room works great and I have met alot of cool people here and made some new friends. Very relaxed atmosphere too!

I live in Costa Rica, and during our off season from our own tourism business we spend plenty of time in San Jose. I always stay at Kap's. The reasonable prices, the access to the kitchen, and the friendly atmosphere are all good reasons, but Karla is really the main asset. We are always looking for particular items or services for our own business, and she is a never ending resource for information. She even went to the doctors with my husband when he needed a hand. Great woman.
